Ingredients
For the Base:
- 1 1/2 cups crushed digestive biscuits (or graham crackers)
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Marshmallow Topping:
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
For the Chocolate Glaze:
- 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
-
Prepare the base:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed biscuits, desiccated coconut, and cocoa powder.
- Add the melted butter, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until everything is well combined.
-
Press the base into a pan:
- Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Press the mixture evenly into the base of the pan. Use the back of a spoon to smooth it out and compact it.
- Place the pan in the fridge to chill for at least 1 hour or until the base is firm.
-
Prepare the marshmallow topping:
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir until they’re completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and allow the marshmallow mixture to cool for a few minutes, then spread it evenly over the chilled base.
-
Prepare the chocolate glaze:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the dark chocolate and heavy cream in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the marshmallow topping and spread it evenly with a spatula.
-
Chill the slice:
- Place the pan back in the fridge and let the slice chill for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
-
Serve and enjoy:
- Once the slice is set, cut it into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious Hot Chocolate Slice!
Notes
- You can use milk chocolate or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate for the glaze, depending on your preference.
- If you don’t have digestive biscuits, graham crackers are a good substitute.
- For a festive touch, you can top the marshmallow layer with crushed candy canes or sprinkles before adding the chocolate glaze.
