Description

Treat yourself to a warm and gooey dessert with this Hot Fudge Cake—a classic comfort that bakes into a rich chocolate cake with a molten, fudgy layer underneath. Perfect with a scoop of ice cream on top for a heavenly experience!

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Fudge Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 1/4 cups hot water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Batter:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  • Make the Fudge Sauce:
    • In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish.
    • Carefully pour the hot water over the entire mixture—do not stir.
  • Bake:
    • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is set and the edges are bubbling. The top will be cake-like, but underneath, you’ll find a luscious layer of hot fudge sauce.
  • Serve:
    • Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, letting the hot fudge ooze over the top.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate.
