Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of cocktail rye bread
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped pickles for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and ground pork over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it up into small crumbles. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until softened.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture with the shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Place the cocktail rye bread slices on a baking sheet. Spoon the meat mixture onto each slice, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optional: Garnish with chopped pickles before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning (salt, pepper, and mustard) to your taste preferences.
- If you want to make these ahead of time, prepare the meat mixture and refrigerate it until you’re ready to bake the bites.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for the pork and beef mixture for a lighter version.
