Description

Italian Compound Butter is a savory, herb-infused spread made with garlic, Parmesan, and classic Italian herbs. It’s a simple way to add rich, aromatic flavor to bread, steaks, vegetables, or pasta.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano, finely chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (to taste, especially if butter is unsalted)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with all other ingredients.
  2. Use a fork or spatula to thoroughly mix until the herbs and cheese are evenly distributed.
  3. Scoop the mixture onto a piece of parchment or plastic wrap and shape into a log. Twist the ends to seal.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up before slicing or using.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
