Description

These irresistible chocolate chip cookies are inspired by Jacques Torres’ famous recipe, known for their perfect chewy texture, rich flavor, and decadent chocolate chips. The cookies are generously dipped in a smooth, glossy layer of dark chocolate, making them the ultimate indulgence for any chocolate lover. Perfect for gifting, or simply enjoying with a glass of milk.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup high-quality dark chocolate (for dipping), chopped into chunks
  • Optional: Flaked sea salt (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop large portions of dough (about 3 tablespoons per cookie) and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are still slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. While the cookies cool, melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts. Stir until smooth.
  11. Once the cookies have cooled, dip the tops into the melted dark chocolate, then place them back on the wire rack.
  12. Optional: Sprinkle flaked sea salt on top of the dipped chocolate for an extra layer of flavor.
  13. Allow the chocolate to set (you can refrigerate them for faster results).

Notes

  • These cookies are best enjoyed after the chocolate has fully set, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • If you prefer, you can dip only half of the cookie in the chocolate or drizzle the chocolate for a lighter touch.
  • Make sure to use high-quality chocolate for the dipping—Jacques Torres is known for using Valrhona chocolate, which gives a deep, rich flavor.
