- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise

- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

- Crusty bread, chips, or crackers, for serving
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions:
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
- Add the sliced onions, salt, and brown sugar. Stir occasionally, allowing the onions to soften and turn golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Make the dip base:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise, grated Parmesan, mozzarella cheese, black pepper, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Stir until smooth and well combined.
- Combine the onions and dip mixture:
- Add the caramelized onions to the dip base and fold in until evenly distributed.
- Bake the dip:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the dip mixture to an oven-safe dish and smooth the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and golden brown on top.
- Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives.
- Serve hot with crusty bread, chips, or crackers for dipping.
Notes
- For extra richness, add a little extra butter or heavy cream to the dip base.
- If you want a bit of heat, sprinkle in some red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- This dip can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 2 days. Simply bake it when you’re ready to serve.
