Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices Japanese milk bread (shokupan) or soft white bread, crusts removed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, whisk together egg yolk, sugar, cornstarch, and milk until smooth.

- Optional: Chill the sandwiches for 10–15 minutes for a firmer texture.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- You can use store-bought custard or pastry cream to save time.
- Add fresh fruits like strawberries or kiwi for extra flavor.
- Keep chilled until ready to serve for the best texture.
