Description

A classic burger elevated with a crisp, juicy patty and a tangy, flavorful sauce that takes it to the next level.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Patty:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for optimal juiciness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Secret Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

For Assembling the Burger:

  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Sliced onions
  • Pickles

Instructions

  • Prepare the Secret Sauce:
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle relish, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix everything well until smooth. Refrigerate the sauce to chill while you prepare the burgers.
  • Form and Cook the Patties:
Heat a skillet over high heat. Divide the ground beef into four equal-sized balls. Season each ball with salt and pepper. Place each ball in the hot skillet and smash it down with a spatula to form a thin patty. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until you achieve a perfect sear.
  • Assemble the Burgers:
Toast the buns by lightly buttering or oiling them and toasting in the skillet until golden. Spread a generous amount of the secret sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, and the cooked patty. Top with sliced onions and pickles, then place the top half of the bun over everything.

Notes

  • Smashing Technique: Press the patties firmly for a crispy sear.
  • Chill the Sauce: Letting it chill enhances the flavor.
