Ingredients
Scale
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
For the Meatloaf:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup of the glaze mixture
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs
- 2 pounds ground turkey
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Glaze
- In a medium bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Whisk together until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2: Sauté the Onions
- Heat olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup of the prepared glaze, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, and eggs. Whisk to blend.
- Stir in the sautéed onions and garlic.
- Add the bread crumbs and ground turkey. Use your hands or a spatula to gently combine everything, being careful not to overmix.
Step 4: Shape and Glaze the Meatloaf
- Transfer the turkey mixture to a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf, about 9 inches long and 4-5 inches wide.
- Brush the remaining glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Step 5: Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for about 55-65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- To prevent the meatloaf from becoming dry, avoid overmixing the meat and bake until just cooked through.
- For extra flavor, consider adding finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers or carrots to the meat mixture.
- If using a loaf pan, adjust the baking time as it may cook faster in a pan.
