Description

Kentucky Pie is a rich, decadent dessert with a perfect balance of chocolate, nuts, and a gooey, sweet filling. It’s a delightful southern treat that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade, if preferred)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it down gently.
  3. In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Spread a thin layer of the melted chocolate on the bottom of the pie crust.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the chocolate layer.
  5. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  6. Pour the filling mixture over the chocolate and pecans in the pie crust.
  7. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. If the crust edges begin to brown too quickly, cover them with foil or a pie shield.
  8. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more nutty texture, you can add extra chopped pecans to the filling mixture.
  • Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
  • This pie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
