Description
Kentucky Pie is a rich, decadent dessert with a perfect balance of chocolate, nuts, and a gooey, sweet filling. It’s a delightful southern treat that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade, if preferred)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it down gently.
- In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Spread a thin layer of the melted chocolate on the bottom of the pie crust.
- Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the chocolate layer.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the filling mixture over the chocolate and pecans in the pie crust.
- Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. If the crust edges begin to brown too quickly, cover them with foil or a pie shield.
- Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- If you prefer a more nutty texture, you can add extra chopped pecans to the filling mixture.
- Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
- This pie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
