Description

This Key Lime Pie Trifle is a refreshing, layered dessert that combines the creamy tang of key lime custard with fluffy whipped cream and a buttery graham cracker crust. Perfect for summer parties, gatherings, or anytime you’re craving a citrusy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of graham crackers (about 12 full crackers), crushed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Key lime zest, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine crushed graham crackers and melted butter. Stir until crumbs are well-coated and mixture resembles wet sand. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Set aside in the fridge.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, and sour cream. Beat until fully combined and smooth.
  4. In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer the graham cracker mixture, key lime custard, and whipped cream. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, ending with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  5. Garnish with key lime zest or extra graham cracker crumbs, if desired. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a stronger key lime flavor, add extra lime zest to the custard or whipped cream layers.
  • If you prefer a firmer texture, refrigerate overnight to allow the trifle to set completely.
  • This dessert can be made in individual cups for easier serving and portion control.
