Delicious and hearty Lasagna Roll-Ups filled with a creamy cheese mixture and savory meat sauce, all baked to perfection. This comforting dish is perfect for family dinners and is sure to impress.

Cheese Filling:
- 15 oz. ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ tsp each: salt, dried basil, dried parsley
- ¼ tsp pepper
Meat Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- ½ lb. ground beef
- ½ lb. ground Italian sausage (hot or mild)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 32 oz. marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
Lasagna:
- 12 lasagna noodles (plus extra for breakage)
- 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (for topping)
Instructions
- Combine the cheese filling mixture in a medium bowl and set aside. Spread ½ cup of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and add the diced onions. Let them soften for 10 minutes.
- Add ground beef and sausage, increasing heat to medium-high. Break up the meat into fine crumbles and cook for 8-10 minutes. Add garlic during the last minute and drain excess grease.
- Add chicken broth to the pot and scrape the bottom to release any browned bits. Stir in remaining marinara sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
- While the sauce simmers, boil the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- Line the noodles on parchment or wax paper. Spread 2½ tablespoons of cheese mixture over each noodle and ¼ cup of sauce, reserving the rest.
- Roll up the noodles tightly and place them seam side down in the baking dish. Top with remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella.
- Cover with foil sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, and bake for 35 minutes. Optionally, remove the foil and broil at 450°F to brown the top.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with sautéed mushrooms or a mix of vegetables.
