Description

This easy twist on Chicken Parmesan uses frozen chicken patties and Italian bread for a deliciously cheesy, crispy sandwich that’s ready in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 frozen breaded chicken patties (such as Tyson®)
  • 2 tablespoons garlic butter (or to taste)
  • 4 slices Italian bread
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil (or to taste)
  • Pinch of garlic salt (or to taste)
  • 6 thin slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Bake the Chicken Patties: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place chicken patties on a baking sheet and bake until crispy and cooked through, about 20 minutes. Once cooked, cut each chicken patty in half lengthwise.
  • Prepare the Marinara Sauce: In a microwave-safe bowl, mix marinara sauce, dried basil, and garlic salt. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute until warm. Stir well.
  • Assemble the Sandwich: Spread garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, into a skillet over medium heat. Layer with 2 slices of provolone cheese, 1 tablespoon marinara sauce, 2 halves of the chicken patty, 2 more tablespoons marinara sauce, another slice of provolone cheese, and the second slice of bread (butter side up).
  • Grill the Sandwich: Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted. Repeat for the second sandwich.
  • Serve with Parmesan Marinara: Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over any remaining marinara sauce and serve alongside each sandwich for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
  • Use fresh basil instead of dried for a brighter flavor.
