Description
Lemon Chicken Romano features tender, pan-fried chicken breasts topped with a bright lemon sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan Romano cheese, creating a perfect balance of tangy and savory flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, mix the flour, grated Romano cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Coat each chicken breast in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure it adheres evenly to both sides.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chicken broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the heavy cream, mixing well to create a smooth sauce.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes to reheat and allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the chicken breasts topped with the sauce and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
Notes
- For a more pronounced lemon flavor, add extra lemon zest to the sauce.
- Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or pasta for a complete meal.
- If you prefer a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour substitute for dredging the chicken.
- For a creamier sauce, you can add an extra tablespoon of heavy cream.
