Description

Delight in the layers of crisp puff pastry filled with a creamy lemon filling. This Lemon Mille-Feuille is a refreshing dessert that balances the rich cream with tangy lemon, making it perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Puff Pastry:

  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets (store-bought, thawed)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

For the Lemon Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Β½ cup lemon curd (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Garnish:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Lemon zest or lemon slices (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut them into 3Γ—3 inch squares (or any desired shape).
    • Place the squares onto the baking sheet and poke them with a fork to prevent too much puffing.
    • Bake the puff pastry for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Once baked, let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Make the Lemon Cream Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
    • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
    • Gently fold in the lemon curd until well combined and creamy.
  • Assemble the Mille-Feuille:
    • Take one square of puff pastry and spread a generous layer of lemon cream on top.
    • Place another square of puff pastry on top and repeat the process to form layers (usually 2-3 layers of pastry and filling).
    • For extra flair, pipe the lemon cream between layers for a neater presentation.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    • Dust the top layer of pastry with powdered sugar for a beautiful, elegant finish.
    • Optionally, garnish with lemon zest or serve with lemon slices on the side for a zesty touch.
  • Chill and Enjoy:
    • Chill the mille-feuille for about 30 minutes to let the flavors meld before serving.
    • Serve and enjoy the combination of crisp puff pastry and tangy lemon cream!

Notes

For a more intense lemon flavor, consider using homemade lemon curd.
