Description

This Lemon Tiramisu is a refreshing twist on the classic, with zesty lemon cream, delicate ladyfingers, and a hint of limoncello for an adult version. Perfect for any occasion, this dessert is a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Lemon Cream:

  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Zest of 1 large lemon
  • Juice of 2 large lemons

For the Layers:

  • 1 package of ladyfingers (about 24)
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon syrup (see below) or store-bought lemon-flavored soda (e.g., San Pellegrino Limonata)
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons limoncello for an adult version

For Topping:

  • Lemon zest
  • White chocolate shavings or powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the Lemon Cream:
    • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the mascarpone, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until light and creamy.
  • Prepare the Lemon Syrup:
    • In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then let it cool.
    • Alternatively, you can use store-bought lemon soda or add limoncello for a boozy kick.
  • Assemble the Tiramisu:
    • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the lemon syrup, ensuring they are moist but not soggy.
    • Arrange a single layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish or similar-sized serving dish.
  • Layer the Lemon Cream:
    • Spread half of the lemon cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
    • Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and finish with the remaining lemon cream.
  • Chill:
    • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Decorate and Serve:
    • Before serving, sprinkle the top with lemon zest and optionally add white chocolate shavings or a dusting of powdered sugar.
    • Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • This dessert can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • For a more intense lemon flavor, you can add more lemon zest to the cream or syrup.
  • If you’re using limoncello, make sure to chill the dessert for at least 4 hours to allow the flavors to blend perfectly.
