Description

Indulge in these warm, gooey Maple & Pecan Sticky Buns that combine soft, buttery dough with a sweet, crunchy pecan filling and a luscious maple glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:

  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted if desired)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
    • Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large bowl, combine sugar, softened butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
    • Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling:
    • Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread melted butter over the dough. Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and chopped pecans, then drizzle with maple syrup.
  • Form the Rolls:
    • Roll the dough up tightly from one long side to the other, then cut into 12 equal slices.
    • Place the slices in a greased baking pan, leaving space between each slice. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the buns are golden brown.
  • Prepare the Glaze:
    • While the buns are baking, heat butter, maple syrup, and heavy cream in a saucepan until smooth and warm.
    • Pour the glaze over the warm buns immediately after they come out of the oven.

Notes

  • Toasting the pecans before adding them to the filling can enhance their flavor.
  • Ensure your milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast.
  • For an extra gooey center, you can add a dollop of cream cheese to the filling if desired.
