Description

Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish featuring tender sweet potatoes coated in a sweet and savory maple syrup glaze. Enhanced with optional spices and topped with crunchy nuts, this dish is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for added crunch)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: In a large bowl, toss the cubed sweet potatoes with olive oil, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), salt, and black pepper until well coated.
  • Roast the Sweet Potatoes: Spread the sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not overcrowded. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the sweet potatoes are tender and caramelized on the edges.
  • Add Nuts (Optional): If using chopped pecans or walnuts, sprinkle them over the sweet potatoes during the last 5-7 minutes of roasting to toast them lightly.
  • Serve: Remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary, if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of brown sugar along with the maple syrup.
  • Make sure to toss the sweet potatoes well so they cook evenly and develop a caramelized exterior.
