Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Add Chocolate and Cherries: Fold in chocolate chips and maraschino cherries.
- Bake the Cookies: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing each cookie about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
- Cool and Serve: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Make sure to drain and chop the maraschino cherries thoroughly to avoid excess moisture in the dough.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
