Description

These Marbled Heart Sugar Cookie Cutouts are a stunning, delicious treat for any occasion, especially perfect for Valentine’s Day! With a swirl of beautiful marbled colors, these cookies are as fun to make as they are to eat. The tender texture and eye-catching designs are sure to impress your loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (red, pink, or any color of your choice)
  • Icing (optional, for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  2. Divide and Color the Dough:
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion, kneading the dough until the colors are fully incorporated. Choose any colors you prefer for a marbled effect.
  3. Roll and Create Marbled Effect:
Roll each colored dough portion into small balls. Flatten the balls into discs, stacking them on top of each other. Gently roll the stacked dough out into a sheet, using a rolling pin to create a marbled effect by blending the colors lightly.
  4. Cut the Cookies:
Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies from the marbled dough. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  5. Bake the Cookies:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are just golden. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack.
  6. Decorate (Optional):
Once the cookies are fully cooled, you can decorate them with icing, sprinkles, or any additional designs for an extra touch.

Notes

  • You can use gel food coloring for more vibrant, marbled colors.
  • Make sure the dough is chilled slightly if it gets too soft to handle.
  • Store these cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
