Description

This Maryland Crab Dip Pretzel combines the classic flavors of Maryland crab dip with the delicious crunch of soft pretzels. Perfect for gatherings or as a special treat, this dish is easy to prepare and sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz lump crab meat
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • Pinch garlic salt
  • Old Bay seasoning (to taste)
  • 2 jumbo fresh soft pretzels (found in the bread aisle)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pretzels:
Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C). Place the jumbo soft pretzels on a baking sheet. Optionally, you can salt the pretzels according to the package instructions, but it’s not necessary.
  • Make the Crab Dip:
In a large bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and garlic salt until smooth. Add the milk, cheddar cheese, and Old Bay seasoning. Mix until well combined. Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful not to break up the crab too much.
  • Assemble and Bake:
Spoon the crab dip mixture evenly onto the pretzels. If desired, sprinkle a little extra cheddar cheese on top of the crab dip for added flavor and a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crab dip is hot all the way through and the cheese is melted.
  • Serve:
Serve the pretzels hot. You can cut them into pieces with a serrated knife or let guests break off pieces by hand.

Notes

  • Crab Meat: For the best flavor, use high-quality lump crab meat. If using canned crab, be sure to drain it well.
  • Cream Cheese: Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to make mixing easier and to achieve a smooth dip.
  • Serving: This dish is best served hot, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
