Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix for juiciness)
4 slices of American cheese
4 hamburger buns
Dill pickle slices
1 small onion, finely chopped
Ketchup
Mustard
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and form into thin patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness is reached.
- A minute before the patties are done, place a slice of cheese on 4 of the patties and allow it to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly.
- To assemble, place a cheese-topped patty on the bottom bun, followed by a non-cheese patty.
- Add pickle slices, chopped onions, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For an authentic touch, lightly toast the buns on the grill after cooking the burgers.
