Description

Meaty Texas Trash Dip is a hearty, cheesy, and flavorful hot bean dip loaded with ground beef, refried beans, cream cheese, and melty cheese. It’s an irresistible party favorite served with tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions, jalapeños, or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and a splash of water to the beef. Cook for 1–2 minutes until well combined. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the refried beans, cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Stir in the beef mixture and salsa (if using).
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Garnish with green onions, jalapeños, or cilantro if desired. Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Make it spicier by adding chopped jalapeños or using pepper jack cheese.
  • You can assemble this dip a day ahead and refrigerate—just bake before serving.
  • Use ground turkey or chorizo for a different flavor twist.
