Description

These Melt in Your Mouth Potatoes are soft, creamy, and loaded with flavor. Baked to perfection, they’re the ultimate side dish that complements any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth and creamy.
  4. Stir in the melted butter, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  5. Transfer the mashed potatoes into the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the potatoes.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden and the cheese (if using) is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, add more sour cream or cream cheese to the mashed potatoes.
  • Feel free to add bacon bits or green onions as a topping for extra flavor.
  • If you’re looking to make them lower in fat, you can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream and use reduced-fat cheese.
