Description

These Melted Witch Cookies are a whimsical and fun Halloween treat, inspired by melted snowman cookies. They feature a spooky “melted witch” design with chocolate hats and broomstick decorations, making them perfect for Halloween parties or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Your favorite chocolate cookie dough (or sugar cookie dough)
  • Green royal icing (for the “melted witch”)
  • Oreo cookies (for the hat)
  • Hershey’s Kisses (for the hat tip)
  • Pretzel sticks (for the broom handle)
  • Chow mein noodles (for the broom bristles)
  • Black gel icing (for detailing)
  • Edible candy eyes (optional for added effect)

Instructions

  • Bake the Cookies:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Prepare your chocolate or sugar cookie dough.
    • Roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut out circles using a round cookie cutter.
    • Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or according to your dough’s recipe.
    • Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Prepare the Witch Hat:
    • Twist apart an Oreo cookie, keeping one half intact.
    • Place a Hershey’s Kiss on top of the intact Oreo half, securing it with melted chocolate or frosting to create the witch’s hat.
  • Decorate the Cookies:
    • Flood the top of each cooled cookie with green royal icing to represent the “melted witch.” Let it set slightly.
    • Place the Oreo-Hershey’s Kiss witch hat onto one side of the cookie, pressing gently into the icing.
    • Break a pretzel stick to create the broom handle and attach chow mein noodles with a bit of melted chocolate or icing to mimic broom bristles. Place this “broom” on the opposite side of the cookie.
    • Use black gel icing to add details such as melted arms or shoes. Optionally, place edible candy eyes on the green icing for a fun touch.
  • Let it Set:
    • Allow the decorated cookies to dry completely. For quicker drying, place them in the refrigerator for a few minutes.
  • Serve & Enjoy:
    • Display the cookies on a festive tray for Halloween parties or package them individually as a treat for friends and family.

Notes

  • Chocolate Melting: Melt the chocolate wafers or use a small amount of frosting to attach decorations securely.
  • Decoration Tip: Ensure the royal icing is slightly tacky before adding decorations to help them stick better.
  • Cookie Dough: Using pre-made cookie dough can simplify the process and save time.
