Ingredients

  • 1 pound white, deli-sliced American cheese
  • ⅔ cup of milk or half-and-half
  • 34 tablespoons of canned, chopped green chiles or jalapeños
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)

Instructions

  • Slow Cooker Method:
    • Turn on your slow cooker to the lowest setting.
    • Dump in all the ingredients (white cheese, milk, green chiles, cumin, and chipotle powder).
    • Heat and stir occasionally until the dip thickens and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Double Boiler Method:
    • Heat the milk, chopped chiles, and spices in the top part of a double boiler.
    • Gradually add in the American cheese, 1-2 slices at a time, stirring until fully melted and blended together.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of chipotle powder depending on your spice preference.
  • You can substitute half-and-half with milk for a lighter version.
  • This dip can also be made ahead of time and reheated. If it becomes too thick, add a little more milk to reach your desired consistency.
