Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound white, deli-sliced American cheese
- ⅔ cup of milk or half-and-half
- 3–4 tablespoons of canned, chopped green chiles or jalapeños
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)
Instructions
- Slow Cooker Method:
- Turn on your slow cooker to the lowest setting.
- Dump in all the ingredients (white cheese, milk, green chiles, cumin, and chipotle powder).
- Heat and stir occasionally until the dip thickens and the cheese is fully melted.
- Double Boiler Method:
- Heat the milk, chopped chiles, and spices in the top part of a double boiler.
- Gradually add in the American cheese, 1-2 slices at a time, stirring until fully melted and blended together.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chipotle powder depending on your spice preference.
- You can substitute half-and-half with milk for a lighter version.
- This dip can also be made ahead of time and reheated. If it becomes too thick, add a little more milk to reach your desired consistency.
