Description

This Million Dollar Pound Cake is a rich, buttery, and perfectly moist cake that melts in your mouth. With a hint of vanilla and a dense yet airy texture, it’s a showstopper for any occasion! Once you try this cake, you’ll understand why it’s called “million dollar.”

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the heavy cream. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Slice and serve this decadent pound cake as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar, whipped cream, or fresh berries.

Notes

  • If you’d like to add a little extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of almond extract in addition to the vanilla.
  • This cake can also be served with a drizzle of glaze or a dollop of fresh whipped cream for a more festive presentation.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
