- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the heavy cream. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve this decadent pound cake as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar, whipped cream, or fresh berries.
Notes
- If you’d like to add a little extra flavor, you can add a teaspoon of almond extract in addition to the vanilla.
