- 1 cup cold milk

Make the Pudding Base:
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk together until the pudding begins to thicken, about 2 minutes. -
Fold in the Cool Whip:
Gently fold the Cool Whip into the pudding mixture until smooth and combined. If you want a bit of extra flavor, you can add the vanilla extract at this point. -
Add the M&Ms:
Stir in the mini M&Ms (or regular M&Ms, chopped) to the pudding and Cool Whip mixture. Keep some aside for garnish if you like. -
Chill and Serve:
Let the frosting chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using. This will help it firm up slightly and make it easier to spread. Use as a frosting on cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.
