- 12 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella into bite-sized cubes and freeze for 30 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each mozzarella cube first in flour, then in egg, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumb mixture.
- Place breaded cubes on a baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes to firm up.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry mozzarella bites in batches for about 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.
Notes
- For a lighter option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway.
- Try different cheeses like provolone or gouda for variation.
- Serve with ranch or garlic aioli as an alternative dipping sauce.
