Description

Crispy on the outside and melty on the inside, these mozzarella bites are a crowd-pleasing appetizer served with marinara sauce.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella into bite-sized cubes and freeze for 30 minutes.
  2. Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each mozzarella cube first in flour, then in egg, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Place breaded cubes on a baking sheet and freeze for another 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry mozzarella bites in batches for about 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Try different cheeses like provolone or gouda for variation.
  • Serve with ranch or garlic aioli as an alternative dipping sauce.
