Description

This Mozzarella Cheesesteak Stromboli combines the hearty flavors of grilled sirloin steak, sautéed vegetables, and gooey mozzarella cheese, all wrapped in a golden pizza dough. Perfect for a family dinner or game day snack, this dish is as delicious as it is satisfying!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13.4 oz) can of Pillsbury classic pizza dough, refrigerated
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 1/2 lb grilled sirloin steak, roughly chopped
  • Olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried Italian seasoning, divided
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup prepared Parmesan-Peppercorn salad dressing
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a standard sheet pan with parchment paper or a silpat mat.
  • Cook the Vegetables: Heat a few drizzles of olive oil in a skillet. Add the onion and bell pepper, seasoning them with 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and black pepper. Sauté for 3-5 minutes until they are soft and fragrant.
  • Prepare the Dough: On a clean surface, spread out the pizza dough into a 12 x 16 inch rectangle. Evenly sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella over the dough.
  • Assemble the Stromboli: Lay the chopped steak evenly over the layer of cheese. Scatter the sautéed vegetables on top of the steak, then drizzle the entire arrangement with the Parmesan-Peppercorn dressing. Finish by covering with the remaining mozzarella.
  • Roll the Dough: Start rolling the dough from the longest edge, ending with the seam side down. Place it seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Add Toppings: Brush the surface with melted butter, then sprinkle over the remaining 1/2 tsp of Italian seasoning and a bit more garlic salt. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese as the final topping.
  • Bake: Transfer the stromboli to the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until it turns golden brown. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or jalapeños to the filling.
  • Use leftover steak for a quick and easy weeknight meal.
