Description

This creamy chicken casserole is a comforting, crowd-pleasing dish made with shredded chicken, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and topped with a buttery Ritz cracker crust. The addition of green onions, almonds, bacon, and hot sauce adds a savory depth and delightful crunch to every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 ½ teaspoons hot sauce, such as Tabasco® or to taste
  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers, such as Ritz® crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, slivered almonds, crumbled bacon, and hot sauce. Stir until fully mixed.
  3. Pour the chicken mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the crushed buttery crackers with melted butter until well combined.
  5. Spread the cracker mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  7. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for quick prep.
  • Adjust the hot sauce level to your spice preference.
  • Substitute almonds with chopped pecans or omit for a nut-free version.
  • Great for meal prep—leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
