Description

Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, these Nutella-filled waffles are a deliciously indulgent treat perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Nutella, as needed (about 1–2 teaspoons per waffle)
  • Nonstick spray or butter for greasing waffle iron

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions and lightly grease it with nonstick spray or butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk, oil (or butter), and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour a small amount of batter onto the waffle iron, add 1–2 teaspoons of Nutella in the center, then cover with more batter to seal.
  6. Close the waffle iron and cook according to your machine’s instructions, usually 3–5 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Carefully remove and serve warm. Repeat with remaining batter and Nutella.

Notes

  • To keep waffles warm, place cooked ones in a 200°F (95°C) oven while finishing the rest.
  • For easier handling, freeze small Nutella dollops ahead of time and insert frozen into the batter to prevent spreading.
  • Serve with sliced bananas, strawberries, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
