Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it is just about to boil. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until well combined.
- Slowly add the hot milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly to avoid curdling.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing and serving.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- The pie will firm up as it cools, so be sure to let it set for a while before cutting.
- You can sprinkle additional nutmeg on top before serving for extra flavor.
- If you prefer a sweeter pie, you can increase the sugar by 1-2 tablespoons.
