Description

Olive Cheese Melts are a savory and cheesy snack made with a delicious combination of black and green olives, melted cheese, and buttery bread. Perfect as a light lunch, appetizer, or snack, these melts have a delightful salty flavor and crispy, cheesy topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup green olives, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup black olives, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • 4 slices of bread (preferably sourdough or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the bread slices on a baking sheet.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the green olives, black olives, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well combined.
  3. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place the buttered side down on the baking sheet.
  4. Spoon the olive and cheese mixture generously on top of each slice of bread.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add chopped roasted red peppers or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the olive mixture.
  • These melts can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to a day before baking.
  • If you prefer, you can use a different cheese like Gouda or Parmesan for a different taste profile.
