- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 12 oz lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 3 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in Italian seasoning, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with a little salt and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of the Parmesan garlic sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer with lasagna noodles, half of the beef mixture, dollops of ricotta, a layer of mozzarella, and some sauce. Repeat layers finishing with sauce and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- Use no-boil noodles to save time.
- Add sautรฉed mushrooms or spinach for extra veggies.
- Letting the lasagna rest helps it set for cleaner slices.
