Description

A savory twist on classic lasagna, layering seasoned ground beef, creamy garlic Parmesan cheese sauce, and tender pasta sheets for a hearty and delicious meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 oz lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in Italian seasoning, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with a little salt and pepper.
  7. Spread a thin layer of the Parmesan garlic sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  8. Layer with lasagna noodles, half of the beef mixture, dollops of ricotta, a layer of mozzarella, and some sauce. Repeat layers finishing with sauce and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use no-boil noodles to save time.
  • Add sautรฉed mushrooms or spinach for extra veggies.
  • Letting the lasagna rest helps it set for cleaner slices.
