Description

Peach Jalapeno Jam is a sweet and spicy homemade preserve that combines the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with the heat of fresh jalapenos. This unique jam makes a perfect spread for toast, a topping for grilled meats, or even a dip for crackers. With its balance of fruity sweetness and spicy kick, it’s sure to be a favorite condiment in your kitchen!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups peeled and chopped peaches (about 4 large peaches)
  • 12 jalapenos, finely chopped (depending on desired spice level)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 packet (1.75 oz) fruit pectin
  • 5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare your canning jars and lids by sterilizing them in hot water or the dishwasher. Set aside to dry.
  2. In a large pot, combine the chopped peaches, jalapenos, lemon juice, and ground ginger. Stir to combine.
  3. Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer, cooking for 10–15 minutes until the peaches soften and release their juices.
  4. Add the fruit pectin to the mixture and stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Gradually add the sugar to the pot, stirring constantly. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, bring the mixture to a rolling boil. Continue to cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the jam thickens. You can check the consistency by placing a spoonful on a cold plate and allowing it to cool; it should set up and wrinkle when pushed with your finger.
  6. Once the jam has reached the desired thickness, remove it from heat. Carefully ladle the jam into the prepared sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top.
  7. Seal the jars with sterilized lids and process them in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes to ensure a proper seal.
  8. Let the jars cool completely. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year. Once opened, keep in the refrigerator and use within 3 weeks.

Notes

  • For a milder version, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos before adding them to the jam.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of jalapenos based on your preferred spice level.
  • If you prefer a smoother jam, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture before boiling.
  • This jam makes a great gift when canned in decorative jars!
