Ingredients
Scale
For the Cookies:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (plus extra for rolling)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Topping:
- 24–30 chocolate kisses (unwrapped)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer, cream together the softened butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Combine the Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Shape the Dough: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Roll each dough ball in granulated sugar to coat. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake the Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
- Add the Chocolate Kisses: As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. The cookies will crack slightly around the edges—this is normal.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure your butter is softened but not melted to prevent spreading.
- The cookies should be slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven; they will firm up as they cool.
- If using natural peanut butter, be sure to stir it well before using.
