Description

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are a chewy, crunchy, and sweet dessert made with peanut butter, marshmallows, and crispy rice cereal. A perfect snack for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 10 oz package mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and peanut butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally until smooth and combined.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows to the pan and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  4. If desired, stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for extra flavor.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until the cereal is well coated with the peanut butter-marshmallow mixture.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press it down firmly with a spatula or your hands to ensure it’s compact.
  7. Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate them for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
  8. Cut into squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • You can add chocolate chips or drizzle melted chocolate on top for an extra treat.
  • If you prefer a slightly less sweet version, reduce the amount of marshmallows.
  • These can be stored at room temperature, but refrigeration helps them stay firmer.
