Description
Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are a chewy, crunchy, and sweet dessert made with peanut butter, marshmallows, and crispy rice cereal. A perfect snack for any occasion!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 10 oz package mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter and peanut butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally until smooth and combined.
- Add the mini marshmallows to the pan and stir until completely melted and smooth.
- If desired, stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for extra flavor.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring until the cereal is well coated with the peanut butter-marshmallow mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and press it down firmly with a spatula or your hands to ensure it’s compact.
- Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate them for 15 minutes to speed up the process.
- Cut into squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Notes
- You can add chocolate chips or drizzle melted chocolate on top for an extra treat.
- If you prefer a slightly less sweet version, reduce the amount of marshmallows.
- These can be stored at room temperature, but refrigeration helps them stay firmer.
