Description

Pear Honey is a sweet and fragrant syrup made by simmering ripe pears with honey. It’s perfect as a natural sweetener for tea, desserts, or drizzling over pancakes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place chopped pears, water, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until pears are soft.
  3. Use a blender or immersion blender to puree the cooked pears until smooth.
  4. Return the puree to the saucepan and stir in honey.
  5. Simmer on low heat for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently until syrup thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool.
  7. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp if desired.
  8. Transfer to a clean jar and refrigerate. Use within 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Use ripe, sweet pears for the best flavor.
  • Add a cinnamon stick during simmering for a spiced twist.
  • Great as a natural sweetener or topping for yogurt and desserts.
