Decadent brownies topped with a sweet and gooey pecan pie filling, combining the best of both desserts into one irresistible treat.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Brownies:
- 1 box brownie mix (for 13x9 inch pan, plus ingredients listed on the package)
For the Pecan Pie Filling:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups pecans, roughly chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven according to the brownie package instructions.
- Prepare the Pecan Pie Filling:
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, butter, and vanilla. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring continuously.
- As the mixture thickens (about 15 minutes), stir in the chopped pecans. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture reaches the consistency of runny oatmeal.
- Prepare the Brownie Base:
- Mix the brownie batter according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into a greased 13×9 inch pan.
- Bake the brownies for 20 minutes (check package for specific instructions).
- Combine and Bake Again:
- Remove the brownies from the oven and pour the pecan pie filling over them, spreading it evenly.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the filling jiggles slightly in the center but is set.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow to cool to room temperature before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
Notes
Ensure the pecan pie filling is not too liquidy; it should be pourable but thick enough to coat a spoon.
