Description

Philly Cheesesteak Pizza combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with the convenience and comfort of pizza. Featuring tender ribeye steak, sautéed vegetables, and a creamy cheese sauce over a crispy crust, this dish is a delicious fusion of two favorites.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 frozen (fully-cooked) pizza crust
  • ¾ pound ribeye steak
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, separated
  • 1 tsp kosher salt, separated
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ small yellow onion, sliced into ¼” rings
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup freshly grated Provolone cheese, separated
  • 1 ¼ cup freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese, separated
  • ½ cup thinly sliced button mushrooms
  • ½ green bell pepper, seeds and core removed, thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Set the pizza crust out to thaw while preparing the other ingredients.
  • Prepare Steak:
    • Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Slice into thin strips against the grain. Drizzle with 1 tbsp olive oil, and season with ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Cook Steak:
    • Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak strips and cook for 4 minutes, stirring often. Transfer to a bowl or plate.
  • Cook Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and bell pepper. Cook until softened, about 4 minutes, stirring often. Transfer to the bowl with the steak.
  • Make Sauce:
    • Sprinkle flour over the remaining grease in the skillet and whisk until moistened. Gradually add the milk, whisking well after each addition. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened slightly. Stir in ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp garlic powder, and ¼ cup Provolone cheese until melted. Remove from heat.
  • Assemble Pizza:
    • Place the pizza crust on a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Spread the sauce over the crust, reaching the edges. Top with ¾ cup Monterey Jack cheese, steak strips, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup Monterey Jack and ¼ cup Provolone cheese on top.
  • Bake:
    • Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Cut into 8 slices, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the steak and vegetable mixture ahead of time. Just store it in the refrigerator and reheat before assembling the pizza.
  • Freezing: Unbaked assembled pizza can be frozen. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil. Bake from frozen, adding additional time.
