Description

A delicious fusion of classic Philly cheesesteak flavors combined with creamy cheese tortellini. This comforting dish features tender steak, sautéed vegetables, and a rich sauce topped with melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups provolone cheese, shredded (or a mix of provolone and mozzarella)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the Tortellini:
    • Cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook the Steak:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the steak slices with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using).
    • Add the steak to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • Sauté the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the sliced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using), and sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Make the Sauce:
    • Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
    • Stir in 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked steak to the skillet along with the cooked tortellini. Stir everything together until the tortellini and steak are well-coated in the creamy sauce.
  • Top with Cheese and Broil:
    • Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of provolone cheese over the top of the skillet mixture. Place the skillet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, consider adding sliced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
  • You can use leftover steak or rotisserie chicken as an alternative protein.
