Ingredients
Scale
For the Wings:
- 12–14 chicken wings (drums and flats)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Pineapple Glaze:
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Wings:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a crispy skin.
- Toss the wings in olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Spread them out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the Wings:
- Bake the wings for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Make the Pineapple Glaze:
- While the wings are baking, combine the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and ginger (if using) in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- If you want a thicker glaze, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and stir it into the sauce. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your liking.
- Add crushed red pepper flakes if you want a spicy kick.
- Coat the Wings:
- Once the wings are done, remove them from the oven. Drizzle the pineapple glaze over the wings and toss to coat evenly. Alternatively, you can dip each wing in the glaze for extra flavor.
- Serve:
- Serve the wings hot, garnished with additional pineapple chunks or cilantro if desired. Pair with a side of dipping sauce (like ranch or blue cheese) or extra glaze for more flavor.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can broil the wings for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
- You can also make the glaze in advance and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
- If you prefer grilled wings, you can cook the wings on the grill and brush them with the pineapple glaze towards the end of cooking.
