A comforting and easy-to-make cheeseburger pie that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Garlic powder, to taste (optional)
- 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
- ½ cup Original Bisquick mix (or all-purpose flour)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a medium glass pie plate (9-inch) with vegetable oil.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat and fry the onion until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if using.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in the pie plate and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Whisk together Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs; pour over beef and cheese.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Notes
- You can substitute Bisquick with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
- Feel free to add extra veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture for added flavor and nutrition.
- For a spicier pie, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
