Description

Flaky layers of buttery croissant dough filled with a rich pistachio cream and baked into muffin perfection. A unique twist on two beloved pastries—these pistachio croissant muffins are irresistibly delicious! Perfect for pistachio lovers!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Croissant Dough:

  • 1 package store-bought puff pastry sheets (thawed) or croissant dough
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

For the Pistachio Cream Filling:

  • ½ cup pistachio cream
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup finely ground pistachios

For the Topping:

  • ¼ cup crushed pistachios
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pistachio Cream Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine pistachio cream, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. Fold in the finely ground pistachios. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
Roll out the puff pastry or croissant dough into a thin rectangle. Brush the entire surface lightly with melted butter. Spread a thin, even layer of pistachio cream filling over the dough.
  3. Shape the Muffins:
Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from one long edge. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Place each piece, spiral side up, into a greased muffin tin.
  4. Chill the Dough:
Cover the muffin tin with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake the Muffins:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and allow the muffins to cool for 10 minutes in the tin before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. Add the Toppings:
Sprinkle the tops of the muffins with crushed pistachios. Dust lightly with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.

Notes

  • You can make the pistachio cream filling ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • If you’re using store-bought puff pastry, ensure it’s thawed completely before using.
  • For a richer flavor, you can toast the pistachios before adding them to the filling or topping.
