- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce (pizza sauce can also be used)
- 4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese (or shredded mozzarella)
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Olive oil (for grilling)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease with olive oil.
- In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for well-done burgers, or cook to your preferred level of doneness.
- During the last minute of grilling, spoon 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce onto each patty and top with a slice of mozzarella cheese. Close the lid to let the cheese melt.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Once the burgers are done, assemble by placing each patty on a toasted bun and topping with additional marinara sauce, fresh basil leaves, or more mozzarella cheese, if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy your pizza-flavored burgers!
Notes
- If you prefer a spicier burger, you can add red pepper flakes to the burger mixture or the marinara sauce.
