Tender, slow-cooked pulled beef seasoned with smoky spices and served on a soft bun with tangy barbecue sauce and crunchy coleslaw for the perfect hearty sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sandwich buns, toasted
  • Coleslaw for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season beef roast with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, and cumin.
  2. Place onion slices and garlic in the bottom of a slow cooker or Dutch oven.
  3. Put the beef on top, pour beef broth and half the barbecue sauce over it.
  4. Cook on low for 8 hours or until beef is tender and shreds easily.
  5. Remove beef and shred with two forks.
  6. Mix shredded beef with remaining barbecue sauce.
  7. Serve piled on toasted buns and top with coleslaw if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sear the beef on all sides before slow cooking.
