- 1 cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened, no spices)
- 1 1/2 cups oat flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
- 1 large egg
- 1–2 tablespoons water (if needed for dough consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat your Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - Combine the Wet Ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin purée, egg, and ground flaxseed. Stir until smooth. - Add the Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the oat flour to the mixture, stirring until a firm dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time until it’s workable but not sticky. - Shape the Dental Sticks:
Roll the dough into thin, stick-like shapes about 4-5 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. You can also flatten the sticks slightly for easier chewing. - Bake:
Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until firm and golden. For extra crunch, leave the sticks in the oven with the heat turned off for an additional 10 minutes. - Cool Completely:
Allow the dental sticks to cool fully before serving them to your dog.
Storage
Store these dental sticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze them for up to 1 month.
