Description
This Purple Ube Tiramisu combines the traditional Italian dessert with the vibrant flavor of ube, creating a unique and delicious twist on the classic. Creamy, rich, and infused with the sweet taste of ube, it’s a must-try dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- For the ube filling:
- 1 cup ube halaya (sweetened ube jam)
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk (or more if needed for consistency)
- For the coffee mixture:
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- For assembling the tiramisu:
- 24 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
- Shredded coconut or ube crumbs (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the ube filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the ube halaya (ube jam), mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until smooth and creamy. Add milk a little at a time to adjust the consistency, making it easier to spread.
- Prepare the coffee mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Stir to combine.
- Assemble the tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture (don’t soak them—just a quick dip). Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish or a similar-sized serving dish.
- Layer the ube filling: Spread half of the ube mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it into an even layer. Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining ube filling.
- Chill the tiramisu: Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together and for the dessert to set.
- Serve: Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder, and optionally garnish with shredded coconut or ube crumbs for an extra touch of flavor and texture.
- Enjoy: This delightful Purple Ube Tiramisu is sure to be a hit at any gathering or celebration!
Notes
- If you can’t find ube halaya, you can make your own by cooking ube (purple yam), mashing it, and sweetening it with sugar and coconut milk.
- For a stronger ube flavor, you can add a bit of ube extract to the filling.
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the coffee liqueur.
- This tiramisu can be stored in the fridge for up to 2-3 days, and the flavors often improve after a night in the fridge.
