Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 (8 oz) tub of whipped topping (Cool Whip)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 bananas, sliced
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafer cookies (about 40–50 cookies)
Instructions
- Prepare the pudding: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes, until it thickens.
- Add whipped topping: Fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Layer the dessert: In a trifle dish or large bowl, layer the ingredients starting with a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom. Then, add a layer of pudding mixture, followed by sliced bananas and strawberries. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
- Chill: Cover the pudding and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best) to allow the flavors to meld together and the wafers to soften.
- Serve: Once chilled, serve chilled, garnished with extra banana slices and strawberries if desired.
Notes
- You can use fresh whipped cream instead of whipped topping for a more homemade touch.
- If you want a lighter version, you can substitute the pudding mix with sugar-free options and use low-fat whipped topping.
- You can also add a layer of chocolate chips or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for a chocolatey twist.
